Building cultural understanding of immigrant farm workers

Stockholm, WI 54769
Short documentary viewing, presentation from Puentes/Bridges director Mercedes Falk, followed by discussion.
Puentes/Bridges is an organization that works to build understanding between the community that immigrates to work here, and our rural and farming community. Since 2001, dairy producers and community members have been traveling to Mexico to visit families and better understand the culture of the employees who come to work on farms in southeastern Minnesota and west central Wisconsin. When dairy producers meet wives, parents, children, sisters, and brothers of their employees, a bond is created that often results in employee longevity and productivity and most importantly builds connections between people of very different cultures, but similar wants and needs.
